mountain sheter prototype
This project is a result of a semester-long workshop for industrial design and architecture students. The goal of the workshop was to examine how technologically advanced various emergency shelter designs were at the time. Based on the knowledge coming from that survey, as well as from conversations with mountain rescue teams and trips to Polish Tatra Mountains, the students came up with their own shelter prototype.
Its structure resembles a bus stop or a shed. The shelter is suitable for all tourists: amateurs and professionals alike. It can be used as a table with benches or for sleeping and surviving harsh weather. The prototype reflects the ergonomics and expected size of the piece.
Shelter was exhibited at Deep Need - empathy and design during Łódź Design Festival 2013
Research in the Tatry mountains with SAR guide and rescuer.
It was crucial to build prototype in actual scale to check ergonomics.
We conducted long brainstorming sessions to clash our ideas.
